A Perspective on the Economy, Market, and Investment Strategy

The volatility continues as news changes rapidly. It’s a scary roller coaster to be sure. I know it’s unsettling. Still, it’s important to try to see past headlines and market charts and see the big picture. 

As I’ve said many occasions, there is always another crisis that impacts the market. Often times it is unexpected, and I believe the virus crisis is not one many of us imagined would be the next big anxious moment for markets. 

Nevertheless, we have always believed it is important to invest on the assumption that the next big event was coming. When markets drop, having a thoughtful long-term allocation plan in place that matches financial goals is more important than ever. That’s what we focus on at DWM. 

In times like these, it’s good to try to keep our perspective and attempt to balance out the fears in our thoughts and emotions with some thoughtful investment insight. One person that often times is the voice of calm in these moments is Warren Buffett.

Warren Buffett gave a brief interview on the COVID-19 virus and market volatility. I agree with him that there is always going to be a next big event in the market and that one must try to focus looking past the current issue (even though it’s very difficult sometimes!).
